I live in germany and generally speaking, we dont get too much snow in the south. last year we moved to a hilly area tho, temperatures are considerably lower, there´s way more snow, etc. I have never understood just how convenient the winter-package offered for cars is, until this year. I have a Seat Mii, an Eco-box based on a VW Up, the winterpack cost, whoever got the car new, some decent extra money so it seemed excessive but Frozen mirrors? heated. Cold butt? heated. Engine cold? someone fit a coolant preheat in it. yes really, in a small ecobox. its just insanely convenient.

Purchase a small plastic ice scraper without a brush for $2-3 or on clearance in the spring for like $1 or less when your wheel wells get packed with snow use it to clear it from your wheel liners trying to avoid your painted bumper covers, body or flares this will also prevent excess water in your garage if you have one available which can refreeze after melting do you rears and for your front wheels turn start your car and turn your steering wheel lock to lock get the front of one side and the rear of the other fender and switch wheel direction. if your car has unpainted textured bumper covers like 93-04 Grand Cherokee's give it a swift kick with your boots and a-lot of snow will drop.

Hey ChrisFix! I just wanted to let you know that your videos inspired me to fix up my 1997 Ford Mustang! Just got done installing new spark plugs, spark plug wires, a new coil pack, and I even wired some exterior LED lights with a switch under my hood to give me extra light to work on my stang into the night. I am only 20 years old and have never known these skills before watching your videos. It is a great feeling to learn from you and then to put what you teach into practice. Starting up my mustang after installation was an amazing feeling! Thanks!

Better reason for backing cars and trucks into anparkong space, same reason why emergency services does it. Ypu don't have an emergency when parking at the end of the day,, but if you have an emergency at home like a family member injured, you can safely exit the parking quickly.

My tip is not to use a leaf blower on the snow, especially before 10 am. That noise wakes up the whole neighborhood. I have a neighbor who blows off all snow including 1/8 inch dusting from his driveway and car. Everyone HATES him 😅

The only thing I can think of to add is really only helpful if you don't have a leaf blower. I start the car first. Then I start removing snow at the back of the car. Often, especially with thick, wet snow, the hood will be warm by the time I get there and makes that part of the car a bit easier to clear. Oh! And never use a hammer to break up ice on a windshield.

I am not sure how I would write to you about something I’d really like if you could cover... maybe just leaving this comment is enough. When I first got my truck about three years ago it had heavy water spots on the glass and I used 0000 steel wool to remove the water spots but in my inexperience with vehicles I might have done it too long or too rough and it left swirl scratches all over the windows. I’ve tried waxing the windows and rubbing compound mixed with fast orange hand cleaner with pumice from a video I found on LTwindow and a DA polisher and didn’t work. If you have a way to fix these steel wool scratches I’d really like the video! Appreciate what you do it’s all awesome tutorials and great video editing! Thanks ChrisFix!

Ive never heard of backing in called combat parking but i didnt do that for a few days when we got lots of snow and the shield underneath my car to protect the engine bay kept getting bent back towards the rear of the car and you can constantly hear it scraping snow with it, and bumps and just scraping the pavement in general. not fun dont recommend.

If I have a lot of snow on the truck or car, I grab a long-handled broom with very soft bristles and the snow comes off very quickly. And not to worry cuz I've been doing this for years and have never ever found one tiny scratch on the paint or molding. This is the best trick for me removing snow if you have to be somewhere and time is short. The broom is about 2 feet wide so you can just imagine how fast and how much snow can be removed in just one swipe. Use a back and forth method (push to remove snow away. reposition broom then pull snow towards you) Boom, you're done.

Chrisfix i think you missed some tips 1. always let your car heat up 2. If you have a truck that has 4x4 put it in 4x4 it will help the traction in the snow 3. Make sure your headlights, taillights and turn signals are working so everyone can see you Love your videos keep up the great work

You should see some of the cars here in Finland, especially this winter. In my city it's been about -20°C (-4°F I think) for like two months straight and there has been more snow than we comfortably have room for on the roads and streets. Some cars that I've seen are completely buried under snow :D. It can get pretty dangerous though because the roads become narrower and a lot of parking space is lost. Nice vid tho, I should probably adopt some of these methods if I ever have to park on a driveway (currently I have a carport, which removes the need to take care of almost every other problem except for the cold).

Windshield wiper arms left up are a bad idea. Something in the spring mechanism fails on Hondas preventing the wiper blade from making full contact with the glass. One wiper arm is $58.00 from the dealership, installation not included. In a blind stupor from clearing snow from the driveway and ice from the windshield, I managed to leave one up. The wife said you should not have done that, as the News Media had made her aware. Opps!!!

hi chris love your videos and thats why i am coming to you. i did not watch your "guide to buying a used car" in time to save myself $6,500 on my 2011 dodge charger v6 with 177k miles (which is alot thats why i am not too upset about the mechanical issues) but i believe i can save her. the dealer did in fact reset the codes and through my 10-15 test drive all was fine no check engine light. i turn her off and back on just to double check and its still fine besides things here and there nothing to throw me from it. well i get home less than a hour later taking a look at the cabin air filter and oil which where fin and no leaks as far as i could tell i get back in and its Christmas and maria carry is singing on my dash. check engine light and the battery light. i then take it to a auto zone and have them run the codes and it was a misfire in cylinder 2 and its calling for a cylinder head replacements. as for the battery took it to a mechanic and my alternator is working but they are saying its over charging which is causing my speedometer to shut off as well as the radio. so i am now at the mechanics hands when it comes to this car which i really love and want to drive it but i do not know if i should just call it a lemon and get my money back or see about fixing it myself. also there is a clicking when the ac turns on which has been determined to be a door in the ac unit that is stuck that might be causing the air to run hot. i just want to get your opinion on if i should try to fix it and enjoy it or move on and also is there any videos that would help me fix it that you have made or plan to make in the near future.

Trick that I used over the years is to keep antifreeze in a spray bottle. I’m not good at looking at the weather sometimes and it is nice to be able to just hop outside and spray the windshield with antifreeze or the side view mirrors or that rear window when I’m running late. Thanks for your tips as well. Definitely like the tips about the wax on the shovel. Great idea.
